NAPIER FRIENDSHIP FORCE EXCHANGE PROGRAMME 2010/2011

In June a small group of Napier Friendship Force club members will spend two weeks in South America, being home hosted by members of sister clubs in Chile and Peru. We still have space on this exchange for a few suitable candidates.

" We depart on 31st May for Santiago, Chile. Then fly on to our first seven day home hosting with the club of La Serena. We then spend 3 days in Cusco, Peru to explore Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas. Next, we travel to our second seven day home hosting with the club of La Libertad, north of Lima. This completes our official exchange. However, several members plan to continue to southern Brazil, spending three days in Rio de Janeiro and two more at the Iguacu Falls, returning home on 26th June."

If any members of the local community feel they would like to join our group, would they please contact either our Exchange Director: Jenny Connor on 06-874 3886 Phone/Fax, or the Club President: Michael Lott by email at: mikelott@actrix.co.nz , either of whom will then outline the conditions of participation and indicate the likely overall cost of the experience.

Friendship Force International (FFI) is a worldwide network of clubs whose mission is to promote global understanding across the barriers that separate people. We do this by connecting people from different countries at the personal level. FFI club members are known universally as Ambassadors since their behaviour and attitudes while travelling reflect their particular culture. When local hosts open their homes to visitors from other countries and cultures, true understanding can develop through the sharing of meals, conversation and the routines of daily life. Since its founding in 1977 FFI has brought together millions of people. In 2007 alone, 5767 friendship ambassadors traveled between 58 countries, with thousands more serving as hosts. Our mission, structure and activities are described in our website: www.thefriendshipforce.org.

The Napier club, whose patrons are the Mayors of Napier and Hastings, was chartered in 1984, and has approximately 40 mainly retired or semi-retired members living within a 30 km radius of Napier; we welcome inbound exchanges from other FFI clubs from around the world and will ourselves be home hosting members of the Oregon, USA club in September 2010, home hosting club members from Indonesia in 2011, and travelling to clubs in Canada, Washington and Idaho, USA in March 2011.
